2016 Show Announcement
12/28/2015

RagTime /></p>
<p style=We are very excited to announce our 2016 Main Stage summer show: Ragtime.

Presented July 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Walt Disney Theater, this production will benefit USO Central Florida.

Ragtime The Musical is set at the dawn of a new century, when everything is changing… and anything is possible. In the volatile melting pot of turn-of-the-century New York, three distinctly American tales are woven together - that of a stifled upper-class wife, a determined Jewish immigrant and a daring young Harlem musician united by their courage, compassion and belief in the promise of the future. Together they confront history’s timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, and what it means to live in America.

The Tony-winning score is just as diverse as the melting pot of America itself, drawing upon many musical styles from the ragtime rhythms of Harlem and Tin Pan Alley to the klezmer of the Lower East Side, from bold brass band marches to delicate waltzes, from uptempo banjo tunes to period parlor songs and expansive anthems. A truly unique and powerful portrait of America, Ragtime is sure to inspire actors and audiences alike!

Food for the body…and food for the soul
07/13/2015

It’s less than a week until AIDA In Concert at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, and despite being the busiest week of rehearsals, members of Encore! Cast Performing Arts still find time to volunteer in many ways.

This past Saturday, members of Encore had an opportunity to take second and third pick potatoes (the ones that didn't make the grocery store cut) and bag them into smaller bags that can be given to families. Volunteer Chairperson, Rene Villa, and his team were able to process over 2200 pounds of potatoes at the Second Harvest Food Bank!

They made quite the impact as they helped to feed those in need of food for the body; this coming week, they hope to provide food for the soul while performing in AIDA In Concert.
