Encore is currently seeking a diverse range of Creative, Technical, Production, and Marketing individuals to join our bench of qualified team members for upcoming productions and special shows for future projects. This call is for bench positions, which serve as a talent pool for positions that may become available throughout the season. While these postings do not represent immediate openings or a guaranteed placement on a particular production, being on the bench ensures that your profile will be considered first when suitable positions arise.

We are looking for candidates for the following positions:

 

CREATIVE ROLES

  • The Choreographer works closely with Directors, Performers, and Production teams to create captivating and expressive movements that enhance the storytelling and visual impact of the production.

    This role reports to the Encore Creative Director. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, but availability for recurring meetings is expected, as well as added availability during the production timeline to attend rehearsals, tech week, production(s), and load out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Exceptional leadership and collaborative skills 

    • Strong organizational skills with a knack for prioritization 

    • Proficient in time management, able multitask and supervising multiple timelines 

    • Able to communicate effectively and follow-up in a timely manner  

    • Previous experience with choreographing musical theater style dance 

    • Previous involvement in live vocal, instrumental, or theatrical performance 

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite 

  • The Music Director oversees all music-related aspects of a production and assists with casting, rehearsing the vocalists and orchestra, and often conducting performances.

    This role reports to the Encore Creative Director. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, but availability for recurring meetings is expected, as well as added availability during the production timeline to direct rehearsals, tech week, production(s), and load out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ability to lead rehearsals with choir and orchestra  

    • Experience in conducting 

    • Exceptional music ability and ability to sight-read 

    • Strong leadership and collaborative skills  

    • Enthusiastic about working with a diverse group of performers  

    • Proficient in time management 

    • Previous experience leading a team of performers and/or musicians 

    • Strong organizational skills with a knack for prioritization

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Knowledge of technical aspects of live production, including lighting, sound, and stage design 

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite

  • The Show Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the show’s production, ensuring seamless execution and creating a captivating audience experience. This role involves directing rehearsals, coordinating technical elements, and providing guidance to performers and production teams and collaborating with the Creative Director to ensure their creative vision aligns with the season’s thesis.

    This role reports to the Encore Creative Director. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, but availability for recurring meetings is expected, as well as added availability during the production timeline to direct rehearsals, tech week, production(s), and load out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Strong leadership and collaborative skills  

    • Strong creative vision and artistic sensibility, with the ability to conceptualize and execute compelling live performances 

    • Ability to problem-solve and manage conflict resolution 

    • Proven experience in directing live entertainment productions, with a strong portfolio of successful shows 

    • Knowledge of technical aspects of live production, including lighting, sound, and stage design 

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

  • The Production Stage Manager acts as a liaison between the director and cast and is responsible for effective communication between various personnel and departments. The Stage Manager oversees the rehearsal process to ensure the production runs smoothly. Specific position expectations for the Production Stage Manager will vary on the overall production needs. 

    This role reports to the Show Director. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, but availability for recurring meetings is expected, as well as added availability during the production timeline to attend rehearsals, tech week, production(s), and load out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Strong leadership and collaborative skills  

    • Comfortable calling a live entertainment production  

    • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing   

    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail 

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous experience leading a team of performers and/or musicians  

    • Previous involvement in live vocal, instrumental, or theatrical performance 

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite

 

TECHNICAL ROLES

  • The Audio Designer enhances the audio experience of a production by managing sound playback, sound effects, music, and amplification. The Audio Designer collaborates closely with Directors, Designers, and Technical teams to ensure seamless integration of sound elements that complement the overall artistic vision of the production.

    This role reports to the Technical Director. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, but availability for recurring meetings is expected, as well as added availability during the production timeline leading up to tech week, production(s), and load out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Familiarity with audio equipment, software, and hardware 

    • Strong artistic skills with ability to conceptualize and communicate ideas effectively 

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing production requirements 

    • Strong leadership and collaborative skills  

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Knowledge of technical aspects of live production, including lighting, and stage design 

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite

  • The Costuming Designer is responsible for transforming the cast into their characters through the use of clothing and helps situate a production in a specific time and place through the visual cues of clothing. They design, research, source, and construct the clothes for all the principal and ensemble cast in a production. The Costume Designer collaborates closely with Directors, Choreographers, and production teams to ensure costumes enhance the storytelling and aesthetic vision of the production, while also considering practicality, functionality, and the performers' comfort and mobility. 

    This role reports to the Technical Director. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, but availability for recurring meetings is expected, as well as added availability during the production timeline leading up to tech week, production(s), and load out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Proven knowledge in costume construction techniques, textiles/materials, and processes 

    • Ability to manage budgets and timelines 

    • Exceptional collaborative skills 

    • Strong organizational skills  

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous experience working in theatrical costuming 

    • Experience designing costumes for a diverse range of theatrical genres, styles, and periods 

    • Demonstrated leadership abilities 

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite

  • The Cosmetology Designer is responsible for the full make-up palate used throughout the show by identifying the period, location, mood, and any specific descriptions in the text that must be reflected on performers’ faces. The Cosmetology Designer is dedicated to transforming performers' appearances through makeup, hairstyling, and other beauty techniques, ensuring they embody their characters with authenticity.

    This role reports to the Technical Director. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, but availability for recurring meetings is expected, as well as added availability during the production timeline leading up to tech week, production(s), and load out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Knowledge of theatrical makeup techniques and processes, including character makeup, hairstyling, and makeup artistry 

    • Strong attention to detail 

    • Exceptional collaborative skills 

    • Able to communicate effectively and follow-up in a timely manner  

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A valid cosmetology license or certification from an accredited institution or completion of a cosmetology program 

    • Previous experience working in cosmetology, preferably in a theatrical or live entertainment environment 

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite

  • The Lighting Designer works closely with the Director to create the lighting concept that communicates the feeling of a production and guides the audience’s attention in specific ways throughout a performance. The Lighting Designer is also responsible for managing equipment requirements, production logistics, and personnel.

    This role reports to the Technical Director. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, but availability for recurring meetings is expected, as well as added availability during the production timeline leading up to tech week, production(s), and load out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Exceptional collaborative skills 

    • Strong technical theater expertise with knowledge of lighting design theory 

    • Strong organizational skills 

    • Able to communicate effectively and follow-up in a timely manner  

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous experience as a lighting designer for stage productions 

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite

  • The Props Designer helps facilitate the installation and maintenance of all props, including hand props, set dressing and larger moveable pieces like furniture. Working closely with the Production and Creative teams, the Props Designer uses their creativity and resourcefulness to ensure that each prop contributes to the overall storytelling and aesthetic vision of the production.

    This role reports to the Technical Director. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, but availability for recurring meetings is expected, as well as added availability during the production timeline leading up to tech week, production(s), and load out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Strong attention to detail 

    • Strong collaborative skills working with cross-functional teams 

    • Strong communication and organizational skills 

    • Ability to problem solve and remain flexible in live production environments 

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous experience sourcing props and budget management 

    • Knowledge of props management and historical and cultural contexts 

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite

  • The Scenic Designer is responsible for designing all visual elements of a theatrical production including sets and backdrops. They collaborate closely with Directors and Technical teams to bring the artistic vision to life on stage, creating immersive environments that enhance the storytelling experience for audiences.

    This role reports to the Technical Director. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, but availability for recurring meetings is expected, as well as added availability during the production timeline leading up to tech week, production(s), and load out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Proven experience in understanding of theatrical production processes and design styles 

    • Exceptional collaborative and leadership skills 

    • Ability to work with external vendors 

    • Strong creative vision 

    • Ability to problem solve and remain flexible in live production environments 

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous experience working in live production environment. 

    • Proven leadership experience, particularly in a design setting 

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite

  • The Technical Director helps execute all of the technical components of production. The Technical Director provides expertise for the technical crew while working closely with venue teams to execute the creative vision of a production. The Technical Director maintains safety standards for cast, crew, and volunteers.

    This role reports to the Producer. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, but availability for recurring meetings is expected, as well as added availability during the production timeline leading up to tech week, production(s), and load out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Passion for live entertainment and a commitment to high-quality production experiences 

    • Ability of scenic design processes and read technical drawings 

    • Strong leadership and collaborative skills  

    • Ability to manage vendors and team of fabricators 

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Proven experience in directing live entertainment productions, with a strong portfolio of successful shows 

    • Knowledge of technical aspects of live production, including lighting, sound, and stage design 

    • Experience with theater safety 

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

  • The Wig Designer is responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining wigs and hairpieces used throughout the production. This includes researching and identifying styles appropriate to the period, location, and mood of the show, as well as incorporating any specific descriptions from the script. The Wig Designer ensures performers’ hairstyles support the authenticity of their characters and the overall vision of the production.

    This role reports to the Technical Director. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, but availability for recurring meetings is expected, as well as added availability during the production timeline leading up to tech week, production(s), and load out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Knowledge of wig design, construction, styling, and maintenance techniques 

    • Strong attention to detail 

    • Exceptional collaborative skills 

    • Able to communicate effectively and follow-up in a timely manner  

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A valid cosmetology license or certification from an accredited institution or completion of a Training or certification in wig design, hairstyling, or related field 

    • Previous experience working with wigs in theatrical or live entertainment settings 

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite

 

PRODUCTION ROLES

  • The Production Coordinator is the hub of communication, organizer of documentation, and helps ensure all members of the production team stay informed and up to date. The Production Coordinator provides strong administrative and support through coordinating meetings, recording meeting notes, and backend logistics. They keep the production organized, anticipate needs, and are ready to jump in to be the solution to any challenge. Specific position expectations for the Production Coordinator will vary on the overall production needs.

    This role reports to the Production Manager. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, but availability for recurring meetings is expected, as well as added availability during the production timeline to attend rehearsals, tech week, production(s), and load out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Exceptional organizational skills with ability to multitask while managing multiple timelines 

    • Strong collaborative skills, comfortable with managing relationships across various teams 

    • Attention to detail and strong communication skills  

    • Able to adapt quickly to change in a fast-paced environment 

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous involvement in live vocal, instrumental, or theatrical performance 

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite

  • The Production Manager is responsible for everyone in the Production Team and serves as the bridge between the Encore administrative and Production teams. The Production Manager leads all production meetings while also managing the production calendar and working closely with the Producer. Specific position expectations for the Production Manager will vary on the overall production needs.

    This role reports to the Producer. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, but availability for recurring meetings is expected, as well as added availability during the production timeline to attend rehearsals, tech week, production(s), and load out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Strong leadership and collaborative skills  

    • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with timely follow-ups 

    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail  

    • Proficient in time management, able multitask and supervising multiple timelines 

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ability to problem-solve and manage conflict resolution   

    • Previous experience leading a team or production  

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office

 

MARKETING ROLES

  • Graphic designers with Encore Performing Arts are responsible for designing social media graphics, creating show programs, digital advertisements, physical posters, or other promotional material as needed.  

    Ideal candidates will have previous graphic design experience. This is an unpaid, volunteer position with a 3-5 hour/week commitment. Required hours may be more or less based on current production schedules and marketing/graphic design needs.

    The graphic designer will work directly with the Lead Graphic Designer and will report to the Marketing Director. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Strong graphic design skills using programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, or Canva  

    • Layout skills  

    • Creativity and flexibility  

    • Attention to detail  

    • Deadline-oriented with strong time-management skills  

    • Communication skills  

    • Handles constructive feedback on design 

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 1+ years of experience  

    • Certificate or Degree in Graphic Design, or relevant experience  

    • Portfolio or work examples strongly preferred

  • Social Media Coordinators are responsible for managing and monitoring all Encore social media channels as a working member of the Marketing team. Working alongside other Social Media team members, the Social Media Coordinator will work with Production teams to capture content with cast and crew and manage content timelines based on production schedule.

    This is an unpaid, volunteer position with a 2-4 hour/week commitment. The Social Media Coordinator will attend Marketing team meetings (typically quarterly) and should have flexibility to attend rehearsals and performances, as needed. Specific required hours may be more or less based on current production schedules. 

    The social media coordinator will report to the Marketing Director. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous experience managing social media for a theater or arts organization 

    • Deadline-oriented with strong time-management skills  

    • Basic knowledge and understanding of business platform use for social media 

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Able to capture edit and coordinate content for various productions 

    • Experience running paid social media advertising

  • The Web Designer is responsible for maintaining and updating Encore’s website to ensure it reflects current organizational information. Working as a member of the Marketing team, the Web Designer will collaborate with other team members to keep Encore’s online presence visually engaging, accurate, and user-friendly. The Web Designer may also help work on maintaining internal organizational intranet sites and other web-based platforms, as needed.

    This is an unpaid volunteer position with a 2–4 hour/week commitment. The Web Designer will attend Marketing team meetings (typically quarterly) and should be available to make timely updates in alignment with production and marketing schedules.  

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous experience designing or maintaining websites (WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, or similar platforms) 

    • Strong time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines 

    • Basic understanding of web design principles, layout, and accessibility

    • Familiarity with SEO best practices and website analytics across various platforms 

    • Previous involvement in live vocal, instrumental, or theatrical performance
